Recent increases in energy prices have prompted the spa's management to take a decisive decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Andor V\u00e9gh, CEO, said that until this year the buildings were heated with gas energy, which meant the use of about 250 thousand cubic meters of gas, which was a heavy burden on the company, last year it meant energy costs of nearly HUF 200 million. Immediately after the arrival of the CEO, the company started to explore the possibility of using the thermal energy of the liquid gold available, i.e. the hot water from the upwelling, to replace fossil fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- In February, we started the construction, using the water from the D6 well to replace the gas energy,\" said the CEO, explaining the details of the construction. - As is known, the 96\u00b0C water, which has so far risen to the surface at a depth of 400 metres by cooling with cold water, comes up from a depth of two kilometres. The new system is designed to prevent the precipitation of scale at the latter depth by adding a special agent. This also allows it to reach 85-90 degrees Celsius above the surface. Soft water is then circulated through a heat exchanger in the system, which is connected to a boiler to heat the building. This will generate around 200-250 thousand cubic metres of gas. It is important to note that this investment will be financed exclusively from our own financial resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Andor V\u00e9gh, the investment, which is of huge importance for the operation of the Zalakaros spa, was financed from equity because the benefits of the internal restructuring that took place in the last 9 months made it possible. According to him, so far, in the case of Hungarian spas, if you look at a year, you can usually make a profit in five months. Their aim is to change this trend through conscious management in order to achieve a positive balance for all 12 months of the year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n - \"I can safely say that never before in the history of the spa have we closed January, February and March with a profit,\" he continued. -<\/strong> This is thanks to a well thought-out workforce optimisation. In addition, the closure of certain corridors and rest areas less favoured by guests has led to effective cost savings, reducing our material and energy costs. These decisions have also led to quality improvements, as rated by our guests. Everyone in the company does their job conscientiously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I am proud of my colleagues who stand by me as a team. We all see the Zalakaros Spa as an asset.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The positive results achieved and the goals set for the future have provided and will provide us with opportunities to carry out maintenance work that has been delayed for many years, and at the same time to develop attractions that will maintain the interest of visitors or even reach new target groups.
