The Zalakaros Spa celebrated the 56th anniversary of its opening with a charity cookout.
Bright sunshine, cheerful children and a real beach fire awaited the Zalakaros beachgoers on this special day.
The first Cooking Day was held last year, with the intention of creating a tradition, when 4 teams took part in the event.
This year has brought many changes, so the Zalakaros Spa has once again chosen a special way to celebrate. Building on the success of last year, the second Charity Cooking was organised, which was a great opportunity to celebrate,
A total of eight teams took to the woodshed to show off their cooking skills and support a common cause. The dishes were dominated by the flavours of Zala, with lecsó and dödölle almost a must, the latter also winning the title of the most popular dish prepared by the excellent team of the Hunguest Hotel Freya. But there were plenty of other dishes to taste, from the Zalakaros Municipality's fish soup to the kindergarten's stuffed cabbage and the Tourinform office's pork stew, which was enough to lick all 10 fingers. This year, the team of the Zalakaros Spa offered the guests meat cabbage, but the Sensei Academy also served hamburgers as a real beach dish. And the Jókai bean soup prepared by the Futrinkák Association proved to be the tastiest dish of the Saturday, winning the Wandering Wooden Spoon.
We believe it is important to give and give back: to our guests, to our colleagues, to each other, and this does not necessarily mean material goods, but rather the minutes spent together, the shared conversations, the happy moments that can create life-long experiences, said CEO Péter Podlovics.
The proceeds of the cooking competition were donated to the expansion of leisure and educational opportunities for children studying in the educational institutions of Zalakaros.
