In the interests of health preservation and disease prevention, the blood sugar level of guests visiting the spa will also be measured in Zalakaros from March, the spa's general manager said.
László Cziráki indicated that Zalakaros Spa has set 2019 as the Year of Health, and in the framework of this, the blood glucose monitoring campaign „Just a Moment” will be launched from March. From March 1, the campaign „Just a Moment” will be launched to measure blood glucose levels. The service is available from Monday to Thursday at the first-aid point in the spa's reception building, where the spa's paramedics are on duty to welcome guests.
In Hungary, seven percent of the population is affected by diabetes, which is why prevention has been considered, the first step of which is a quick, informative diagnosis, after which, if appropriate, bathers are referred to a doctor. The free test is offered with the purchase of certain admission tickets and is expected to be taken up by tens of thousands of visitors in the period up to the end of May.
Pál Győrfi, spokesman of the National Ambulance Service, pointed out at the press conference that every year about 50 thousand people in Hungary suffer a stroke, i.e. a cerebral vascular occlusion resulting in paralysis or even death. This is why campaigns aimed at health promotion and early detection of the disease are of paramount importance.
Deputy Mayor Judit Czirákiné Pakulár also said that they would like to extend the blood glucose monitoring campaign to the 2500 people living in the municipality, and they are looking for the occasions when they can offer this opportunity to everyone, from children to adults.
Ferenc Novák, Mayor of Zalakaros, was among the first to measure blood sugar levels with the help of the device presented at the event, and Zsuzsi Laky, Europe's beauty, television presenter and her husband Gusztáv Dietz, sportsman, and Dr. Szilveszter Brünner, Director General of the Dorottya Hospital in Kanizsa, were among the first to support the initiative and participate in the event.
