On Friday, 22.03.2019, the results of the drawing competition of the Zalakaros Spa and the Móra Ferenc Elementary School and Primary Art School of Zalakaros were announced on the occasion of the World Water Day. The prizes were awarded to the children by Andrea Csatos, the school director, and László Cziráki, the CEO of Zalakaros Spa. The competition attracted 56 entries from schools in six municipalities (Zalakaros, Galambok, Zalakomár, Zalaszabar, Miháld and Nagyrécse). The artworks can be viewed in the upstairs gallery of the spa's reception building.
László Cziráki, CEO of Zalakaros Spa, said that every year on 22 March, World Water Day draws worldwide attention to the importance and special values of drinking water. Every year, the commemoration takes place under a different motto. The slogan is an accurate reflection of the challenge facing the world today. The UN has set the goal of providing healthy drinking water for all by 2030. Hungary has a huge water resource for its size and, thanks to its natural resources, can supply 20 times its current population with clean drinking water.
The CEO stressed that this treasure must be protected and used consciously. The Zalakaros Spa is committed to environmental protection and is committed to preserving natural treasures. This is also in line with the motto of the Spa: “Our life is thermal water!”. The thermal water of Zalakaros is also a gift of nature, a means of healing. This natural treasure has made Zalakaros and the region famous in Hungary and Europe.
László Cziráki emphasized in his speech that environmental and health education should be started at a very early age and that the educational work should be carried out continuously, and children should be educated in this spirit, as they are the future. He emphasised and warmly recommends to visitors to Zalakaros the playground with special water elements in Zalavár near Zalakaros, which, as well as being entertaining and an excellent family programme, is a playful way of demonstrating the many uses of water and its importance.
At the same time as the opening of the exhibition, the General Manager of the Baths announced that a drawing competition for schools and kindergartens would be held every year to mark World Water Day.
